Mundus Ad Solutum: A Trio and Marauder Era HP RPG
Who: Remus & Sirius
What: Remus goes to visit Sirius for the first time.
Where: The Shrieking Shack (where Sirius is being kept)
Remus had heeded none of Dumbledore's warnings and now as he hurried along the years-worn trail to the Whomping Willow, his usually pale face flushed with colour. There was almost a marauder's excitement to heading out this way. He knew that he could easily just apparate to the Shack, but somehow, taking the old routes brought back the welcome familiarity for him. It made him think of the days of his own youth, back before there was any impending worry about Voldemort. Back when the greatest anxiety was not getting their homework done, or getting caught in a compromising position.
As he neared the aging Whomping Willow, one that had been planted for the sole purpose of keeping his own lupine illness secret, Remus nudged the little secret nob with his wand and the whole tree became entirely immobile. Oh yes, this all brought back many fond memories. He would need those to keep him sane in the face of the overwhelming pain that would come with seeing Sirius, his Padfoot who could no longer remember him. He trudged precariously through the tunnel, feet nearly tripping over large, worn roots and rough clods of dirt. It felt like an age before he reached the end of the tunnel.
And it was there, at the end, that Remus noticed something he had not at all expected. The Shrieking Shack was clean. Clean! After all these years? Madam Pomfrey has scourgified the whole thing?! Impressive, to say the least... He climbed up the stairs, glancing curiously around at the dusted and swept floors, the new furniture, and even a false window projecting a semblence of daylight. It was quite the shock. Nothing at all like the Shack he had come to know in his many years as a student. Then again, if Madam Pomfrey had attempted to clean the place back then, he would have just torn it all up in the next full moon. So really, why would she have bothered?
Remus noticed a mirror hanging in a corner and he walked over to it. He self-consciously stared at himself, noting that he had grown too thin and his hair was more gray now than brown. Remus attempted to tidy his hair a bit, as if it could make some difference to Sirius. Really, he was just stalling for time. The man he had thought to be dead for all these months was just upstairs. Sirius is upstairs! Now that the moment had come, he was more nervous than he'd expected. He was anxious, really. What if he doesn't recognize me? ...what if he does?
He inhaled deeply, trying to shut out all of the nervousness and fear, and then carefully climbed the stairs to the room he knew contained the man he had loved since their own school years at Hogwarts.
